Iam trying to list a buy it now only item but I can only seem to do a buy it now if I also add a standard auction type listing asw ell, does anybody know how I can just list a buy it now?

Use the Advanced Selling form - there are two tabs in it, one for Auction, one for Fixed Price format.

 

Fixed Price is the one you want.

Yep you need to list using the 'advanced selling' form then when you get to the pricing part there's a tab for 'auction' and 'fixed price' - if you select the 'fixed price' the you can add a buy it now price with no auction.
