Selling to International buyers
Jun 7, 2012 10:44 AM

Goodmorning. I have several items listed that have attracted interest from non U.K. buyers- Australia,New Zealand, Europe etc. I have received emails asking if I will be prepared to sell & ship to them to which I have replied that I would. However they then email saying that they are blocked from placing a bid. I do not know how to overcome this problem. I would welcome any guidence. Thank you. Mike.

Adding an eBay to your Bidder Exemption List, here:

http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BidderPermitLogin

will allow them to bid on your current (and future) listings.

Before adding them, make sure that they're aware of, and agreeable to, the postage to their country.

hello you will need to revise your item and adjust the postage details to post worldwide  and put a price for  the postage. items i sell to aus and and all over the world and ive had this problem a few times :) hope this helps you out   and you can make the item visable to the whole world by  ticking the boxes for ebay.com and ebay.ca to allow the buyers from these countries to see and bid on the items

Hello,  I had the same issue last year with a customer of mine who wanted to buy a pair of shoes but lived in France. The shoes were on auction and buy it now. She could only pay by cash so I agreed a price with her in Euros including the postage and cost of conversion. The deal was no pennies in the post no delivery of shoes.  I kept the item on ebay and extended the time available whilst waiting for her money which arrived by registered post the next day. Another alternative is you can get them to pay through paypal using your name once the money is in you can send them the goods. The transaction need not be through the ebay site if they cannot make a bid.

You need to allow internation postage in your listing, simply click on your item : Revise listing : Will post worldwide ( select from the lists which countries you will post to) Make sure you check the postal rates with royal mail to your selected countries.. and then save changes. Hope that helps

When listing the Items check the postage settings to include international  postage, otherwise outside of the UK (EU or where ever you choose) is blocked from bidding on your items.  You can go into an existing auction and alter these settings but beware that international postage is more expensive.

Morning mike,  from memory if you "Revise " your item and go about 3/4 down the opening page (near the postal bit) you should find the bit about international bids and you will have to alter it to allow international bidders.

Also you maybe best (subject to wot you are selling) to put a note to these "International bidders" outlinning that YOU ARE NOT LIABLE for any duty that their purchase may attract at their local customs office.  You may get asked to be a little conservative with the items description and value. They the buyer will/may end up paying duty on wot you are selling and if so an undervalue on your part means they pay less tax.

Its your decision but if customs decide to check (and they do) you will be in hot water too.

Hope that helps.

Regards Paul

also in future if you want your listings available to foreign buyers check your exclusions and also offer postage to the countries you would like to sell to you can find this just under the uk postage when you are listing  regards donny

Hi,

If they are Blocked there is a good reason for that , I would also Block them

I sell a lot to International Buyers, ans have only come across that Problem Once, I apologised, but said I could not Help Them , or You can always phone Ebay and ask theirAdvice, but it may be they have STRIKES against them for Non Paying Bidders. There is nothing worse, a long drawn out process. Stay Clear.

Hi

I have just had a request from a lady in Portugal to forward goods to her.  The Post Office have quoted £8 P & P.  Does anyone have any experience of posting there please and can she expect any extra costs?  It is only a very small item worth around £10 - £15.

I am not really that keen just in case I experience any problems or difficulties having read and heard other stories.

Thank You

Confiriming your indentity
Jun 12, 2012 04:07 PM

Every time I try to sell something it tells me I need to confirm my identity, so I clicked on the instructions on how to so, but they were so confusing and difficult and I couldn't follow them at all. Its so annoying! My paypal is connected to ebay, and everything has run smoothly up to now. If anyone would care to please tell me how to confirm your identity in a more simple way I would be so grateful :( Thank you!
