Happens alot, you can contact the seller and see if they will refund the difference, and rate his postage stars after leaving feedback

I want first class??? For all the things to throw you teddie out of the pram is it going to have to be the price difference between an first class stamp and a second class stamp. Incredible. If you would have paid for special delivery and the get it for second class stamp fair enough. But this is taking the Mickey. You got the blooming item didn't you??

Nothing to do with moral or values. Has to do with the increasing demands of buyers. Buyer agree with the postage. Item got there. End of story. Like I said she is not been ripped of for hugeeeeeeeee amounts. ridiculous.

Means a lot to most of us. You don't have to be a single mom to struggle believe me. But really to make a fuss about or 1st or 2nd class seems a tat much. Sorry if that offended you.

What absolute rubbish, I suppose it would be ok to advertise an item as new when it is used too!!!!

I send most of my items 2nd class, the day after buyer pays, but some sellers take several days to post even when they send 1st class.

As long as you got it, it is O.K.

I don't think this is an unfair comment it is the buyer paying for postage and if it states that it is first class then it should be sent first class otherwise the buyer deserves the money back as they are paying for the item and expect it to be sent as they are informed. I am a buyer and a seller and i get annoyed at the practice of p@p overcharging and such what is wrong with you all nobody forces you to sell on ebay thise who are bot a business should not be ripping buyers off on p@p businesses have vat to pay at 20% we get to pay 10% to beable to sell from our homes instead of getting up early in the morning to do a carboot which i used to do but your item is only worth what people are prepared to bid so making money on postage is rediculous i reuse all the packaging that i get from buying and i've also seen some inventive ones i find this amusing and well done i got one item in a bisto tub was great the packaging way stronger than some boxes. i also keep my packaging saves me and the buyer money. i don't moan about say the postage was 2.50 and they charged 3.00 i will leave that but when they go to extremes then i find it outrageous. as for the cost of pertrol and time again normal ebayers are not businesses and should not get away with charging for this you also have a choice to sell or not to sell post once a week then so that the cost gets sucked up on multiples posting everything at once. and i'm beginning to think honesty doesn't matter here anymore we are trusting people we don't know to send items to each other it might be rubbish to the seller but a treasure to the buyer why be dishonest. back to the main subject it doesn't matter if she, paid for it first class then it should have been sent first class it might be pennies to some people and nothing to others but it all adds up when multiple

To the OP, if first class was offered and that's what you paid for then that's the service you should have been given.

@ndegroot2005

I'm not sure if your being sarcastic or naive.

So if you pay more for one service, but it gets to you on another its OK?

What planet do you come from dude?

So if you bought a 1st class train ticket and had to sit in cattle class, its OK, you still got there.

Regardless of the cost difference, the principle is the same.

I would go so far as to call it fraud.

I Would complain to e-bay about the seller! it might only be a few pounds but if they are doing it to you then they could be doing it to everyone which in the long term is ripping a lot of people off!! sounds to me like a clever like con trick that they have discovered

It seems to me that the argument here is neither about pennies and posting policies of sellers, nor is it about what should or should not be policy of e bay. The question and answer lie in plain simple honesty. If sellers cannot deal in an honest and upfront, workmanlike way, how can they expect their customers to do so?

The fact is that the dishonesty, not the fact that it is small, is the problem. I will guarantee that this is the last item that this customer will buy from this seller. And I will warrant that any potential buyers will note the dishonesty and buy from somewhere else, like me. So keep ripping off your customers please. I need the business.

Having said that, I have been shocked at the price of postage

I have had to pay recently.  It has cost much more than I anticipated so maybe what he originally quoted didnt actually cover the item.  I recently sold a DVD and allowed £1.99 for the postage first class. I was shocked to be charged £2.70 at the till

being told it didnt fall into this or that category.  Sometimes I think the post offices are not weighing up properly either.

When i 1st started selling on ebay i would put postage up to maximum and send 2nd class standard as i saw it as a way of making a bit off the postage as people would bid regardless of postage prices which i found strange so i thought why not, but then one day it backfired as someone left me neg feedback for sending 2 items in 1 bag and he paid double postage, he said i was pocketing difference i had to beg with him and return postage costs to get him to revise feedback, taught me for being greedy i guess, hope this helps new ebayers selling multiple items

It happens because ebay allow it to happen, people charging £4 or £5 to post a small packet or even a large letter, and stating one service and using a cheaper one can be seen on about every page of listings.Ask for a refund.

i think the buyer is right to compalin about the postage from the seller , they charged first class and it should go first class , if its more than that the seller should pay for the difference . so with the extra money hes making by sending 2nd class on postage he should buy himself a tiny kitchen weighing scale and work out what his postage costs will be before sending the parcel . you can easilly download royal mails prices what are on the net what are quite clear of all costs .
